What a blessing it was to be able to help out the charity Little Pink Houses of Hope for their retreat ministering to breast cancer survivors and their families!
Thanks to generous donations from many of you in the congregation, Trinity's Mission Committee was able to provide a Blessing Bag to each of the families with items needed for the week, such as games for the house, journals, personal care items, coloring books, water bottles, sunscreen, lotions, beach supplies, hand-crocheted hearts and a special scarf and heating pad made from breast cancer ribbon fabric. Each family was blown away when they walked into the house that would serve as their home away from home for a week, and saw the amazingly overstuffed Blessing Bags welcoming them to Myrtle Beach!
From chairman Deb Davis2: Thanks to all who made a donation, purchased items and packed the bags!
On the final night of the retreat, Trinity's Fellowship Committee prepared and served a delicious meal of corn chowder, chili, vegan soup, cornbread muffins, hot dogs, baked potato bar, slaw, fruit and several kinds of pie in recognition of 3-14 being National Pi Day!
After the meal, the participants were able to share from their heart as they talked about how meaningful the retreat had been and how much it meant to their family to be able to enjoy the multitude of experiences from the week as they laughed and cried together.
Thanks to those who prepared food, set up and decorated, served the meal with a smile on their face and love in their heart, and then stayed to clean up afterwards! From Judy Oskandy who coordinated the meal: "We served about 75 people...hard work but much appreciated! I heard nothing but thank-you and how much they appreciated it"!
